Brian Docherty, Poet

About the Author

Brian Docherty was born in Glasgow, lived in north London for many years, and now lives in east Sussex.

He has been active in a range of writers groups, including

​

✬ Camden Voices,

✬ Vertical Images,

✬ Islington Poetry Workshop,

✬ Word For Word Writers Group,

✬ Shorelink Writers,

✬ Words for Wellness Writers, 

✬ Hastings Stanza Group. 

          

He was educated at

​

✬ Middlesex Polytechnic,

✬ The University of Essex,

✬ London University Institute of Education,

✬ St. Mary’s University College.

          

He has been described as

 

‘a Glasgow-Irish post-Beat poet for the new millennium.’

 

Brian has published eight collections, several of which are out of print, they include

​

✬ Independence Day (Penniless Press Publications 2015),

✬ In My Dreams, Again (Penniless Press Publications, 2017),

✬ Blue to the Edge: for Rosemary, in remembrance, (Independent Publishing Network, 2020) and
